MSR – 2019 CMT Music Awards

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would like to talk about the 2019 CMT (Country Music Television) Music Awards.  The show took place on June 5th, 2019 at 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) on CMT (Channel 327 on Directv).  On this review, I will be talking about all the performances, the award winners, and my opinions on the matter with the help of (Midnight Star Report).  So let’s get started right now.  And this was hosted by Little Big Town for the second year in a row.

Performances.
Thomas Rhett featuring Little Big Town, & Trombone Shorty – Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Kane Brown – Short skirt weather.
Jordan Davis – Take it from me.
Zac Brown band – Someone that I used to know.
Tenille Townes – Somebody’s daughter.
Boyz II Men & Brett Young – Here tonight/ Water runs dry.
Luke Bryan – Knockin’ boots.
Toby Keith – That’s Country bro.
Toby Keith & Cole Swindell – Beer for my horses.
Kelsea Ballerini – Miss me more.
Jimmie Allen – Best shot.
Little Big Town – The daughters.
Keith Urban – We were.
Runaway June – Buy my own drinks.
Maren Morris – Shade.
Sheryl Crow & Maren Morris – Prove you wrong.
Morgan Wallen – Whiskey glasses.
Dan + Shay – All to myself.
Brandi Carlile, Deana Carter, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, RaeLynn, & Tanya Tucker – Delta Dawn.
Carrie Underwood – Southbound.
Mitchell Tenpenny – Drunk me.
Luke Combs – Beer never broke my heart.

And that’s a wrap for the performance of the night.  And in my opinion my performance is actually tough to pick.  I guess Luke Combs’ new song would take it.  Now the award winners and my thoughts on the winners and who should have won.

Award winners and what they won for.
Female video of the year goes to Carrie Underwood – Love wins. (My opinion Kelsea Ballerini should have won).
Collaborative video of the year goes to Keith Urban featuring Julia Michaels – Coming home (I could see the award going to Dierks Bentley featuring Brothers Osborne – Burning man, or Jason Aldean featuring Miranda Lambert – Drowns the whiskey).  But When Keith wins, I can’t complain.
Duo video of the year goes to Dan + Shay – Speechless (I can’t disagree with this one).
Breakthrough video of the year goes to Ashley McBryde – Girl goin’ nowhere (Right now Mitchell Tenpenny should win but in a few weeks Morgan Wallen would have won).
Group video of the year goes to The Zac Brown band – Someone that I used to know (Zac Brown band deserves to win something and after that speech they may never win anything else ever again.  But really Old Dominion had the best stats for the win with Hotel key).
CMT Performance of the year goes to Luke Combs & Leon Bridges – Beautiful crazy (I can’t really give an opinion on this).
Male video of the year goes to Kane Brown – Lose it (Over the last year I didn’t see any other songs from a male artist do as well as this).
CMT video of the year goes to Carrie Underwood – Cry pretty (It was the #1 video on my “The Ultimate Countdown” for 2018 year end).

Thanks for taking the time to read this review.  And I would give this show an average rating of 3 stars out of 5.  It was tough to pick a performance that stood above all the rest.  And some of the award winners shouldn’t have won but it was a fine show overall.

MSR – Brooks & Dunn – Reboot

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I will be talking about the latest album from Country Music Duo Brooks & Dunn.  This time Brooks & Dunn newest album is titled “Reboot” and was released on April 5th, 2019.  Now a little more about Brooks & Dunn.

So Brooks & Dunn is a Country Music Duo with 22 number hits and you can find some of their biggest hits on this Reboot album.  In 1990 Ronnie Dunn, & Kix Brooks were put together and they formed Brooks & Dunn.  Now Kix Brooks counts down the Billboard Country Music Airplay Chart on his weekly Saturday, & Sunday Radio show all across America.  And Brooks & Dunn are currently with their best friend Reba doing their Vegas shows.  And now more about this iconic album.

So this features 9 artists that have all gotten number ones on the MSR (Midnight Star Report), which is my weekly Country Music Countdown (Which combined now CMT (Country Music Television), and the Billboard Country Music Airplay Chart, and I use to have GAC (Great American Country) on the list as well til the show ended).  And those artists of today didn’t fight over any songs that they wanted to sing with Brooks & Dunn.  So some standouts on this album you should check out such the current single with Luke Combs “Brand new man”, “Ain’t nothing ‘bout you” with Brett Young, “Neon moon” with Kacey Musgraves, “Hard workin’ man” with Brothers Osborne, and “Believe” with Kane Brown.  And I only picked a few of the hits.  There are a lot of good ones but I didn’t want to list them all but here is the track list now.

Track list.
1. Brand new man (With Luke Combs).
2. Ain’t nothing ’bout you (With Brett Young).
3. My next broken heart (With Jon Pardi).
4. Neon moon (With Kacey Musgraves).
5. Lost and found (With Tyler Booth).
6. Hard workin’ man (With Brothers Osborne).
7. You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone (With Ashley McBryde).
8. My Maria (With Thomas Rhett).
9. Red dirt road (with Cody Johnson).
10. Boot scootin’ boogie (With Midland).
11. Mama don’t get dressed up for nothing (With LANco).
12. Believe (With Kane Brown).

And that’s a wrap for the track list.  And on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this album a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  It is a good album featuring Today’s artists and their takes on Classic Brooks & Dunn songs.  But it was also very difficult to get the album in a store.  But that isn’t against this album.  Thanks for taking the time to read this review.  See ya all next time.
