MSR – The 54th Academy Of Country Music Awards

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards.  I will give you the thoughts of the MSR (Midnight Star Report) who thinks should win.  This award show took place in Las Vegas and was hosted by Reba McEntire who is hosting for the 16th time.  And the original air date was Sunday April 6th, 2019 at 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) on CBS.

Let’s start with the Performances.
Performances (Who and Played what).
Jason Aldean featuring Florida Georgia Line (FGL) – Can’t hide red.
Thomas Rhett – Look what God gave her.
Miranda Lambert – Melody of her greatest hits (which includes Kerosene, Gunpowder and lead, Mama’s broken heart, White Liar, & Little red wagon).
Luke Bryan – Knockin’ boots.
Chris Stapleton – A simple song.
Ashley McBryde – Girl goin’ nowhere.
Maren Morris & Brothers Osborne – All my favorite people.
George Strait – God and Country Music.
Luke Combs – Beautiful crazy.
Dan + Shay featuring Kelly Clarkson – Keeping score.
Little Big Town – The daughters.
Blake Shelton – God’s Country.
Old Dominion – Make it sweet.
Brooks & Dunn with Luke Combs – Brand new man.
Keith Urban – Burden.
Eric Church & Ashley McBryde – The snake.
LANco – Rival.
Carrie Underwood – Southbound.
Kane Brown – Good as you.
Kane Brown & Khalid – Better.
Reba McEntire – Freedom.
Jason Aldean – Melody of his greatest hits (Which includes Lights come on, Don’t you wanna stay with Kelly Clarkson, & Dirt road anthem).
Chrissy Metz, Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, & Maddie and Tae – I’m standing with you.
George Strait & Miranda Lambert – Run.
Dierks Bentley & Brandi Carlile – Travelin’ light.
George Strait – Every little Honky Tonk bar.

Now for the award winners and who should have won and who did win and what they did for.
Song of the year goes to – Dan + Shay – Tequila.  (Maybe it could have gone to Cole Swindell – Break up in the end, but it is okay.)
Singles of the year goes to – Dan + Shay – Tequila.  (Maybe it could have gone to Luke Bryan on Most people are good.)
New female artist of the year goes to Ashley McBryde.
New male artist of the year goes to Luke Combs.
New duo or group of the year goes to LANco.
Duo of the year goes to Dan + Shay.  (After scoring 2 number ones on the MSR so far.  There is no complaints here.)
Vocal group of the year goes to Old Dominion.  (Only ones who had a shot at this could be Midland.)
Male Artist of the year goes to Thomas Rhett.  (Maybe all deserve this but I think Dierks the most.  But Thomas Rhett is a good choice as well.)
Album of the year goes to Kacey Musgraves. (Kacey is on a roll with album of the year winning.  I could see Dierks winning as well.)
Dick Clark’s Artist of the decade goes to Jason Aldean.
Musical event of the year goes to Dierks Bentley featuring Brothers Osborne – Burning man.
Music video of the year goes to Chris Janson – Drunk girl.
Female artist of the year goes to Kacey Musgraves. (Again on a roll, but it could either go to Maren or Carrie.)
Entertainer of the year goes to Keith Urban (I just love Keith Urban.)

And that’s a wrap for the performances, and the award winners for the 54th ACM (Academy of Country Music Awards).  And on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this show a 3.5 out of 5 stars.  There were a lot of very good performances including George Strait’s, Eric Church & Ashley McBryde’s, New music from Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley & Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris with her friends Brothers Osborne and just so much more to pick.  But there were some that maybe shouldn’t have been part of the show.  Again overall a good show that I can’t complain too much.  Thanks for taking the time to read this review.  See ya all next time.
