MSR – CMT Music Awards 2018

MSR – CMT Music Awards 2018

So today I will be talking about the 2018 CMT music awards on the MSR (Midnight Star Review).  So the show took place on June 6th, 2018 Wednesday 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) and it was hosted by Little Big Town on CMT (Country Music Television) channel 327 on Directv.  And of course from Nashville, Tennessee.

Peformances and what they played/sang.
Little Big Town – Summer fever.
Blake Shelton – Turnin’ me on.
Jason Aldean – Drowns the whiskey (No Miranda Lambert this time).
LANco – Greatest love story.
Kelsea Ballerini – I hate love songs.
Dierks Bentley featurings Brothers Osborne – Burning man.
Luke Bryan – Sunrise, sunburn, sunset.
Florida Georgia Line – Simple.
Carrie Underwood – Cry pretty.
Lindsay Ell – Criminal.
Sam Hunt – Downtown’s dead.
Devin Dawson – All on me.
Dan + Shay – Tequila.
Russell Dickerson – Yours.
Chris Stapleton – Millionaire.
Backstreet Boys – Don’t go breaking my heart.
Kelly Clarkson – American woman.
Carly Pearce – Hide the wine.
The Troublemakers (A.K.A. Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, & Charles Kelley) – Straight to hell.

Now the awards and what they won and who I truly think should have won as well.

Performance of the year goes to Backstreet Boys featuring Florida Georgia Line – Everybody.
Maybe I could see this going to Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, & Charles Kelley – Midnight Rider.

Colabarative video of the years goes to Kane Brown featuring Lauren Alaina – What ifs.
I would pick that one as well.

Breakthrough video of the year goes to Carly Pearce – Every little thing.
I see LANco winning for Greatest love story.

Duo video of the year goes to Dan + Shay – Tequila.
But Brothers Osborne’s video for It ain’t my fault did the best so far.

Male video of the year goes to Blake Shelton – I’ll name the dogs.
This one is truly a toss up between this one and Thomas Rhett’s Marry me.

Group video of the year goes to Little Big Town – When someone stops loving you.
I kind of see this award going to Old Dominion – No such thing as a broken heart.

Female video of the year goes to Carrie Underwood featuring Ludacris – The champion.
Really can’t disagree with this pick.

Video of the year goes to Blake Shelton – I’ll name the dogs.
Again this one or Marry me from Thomas Rhett should have won this award.

And that’s a wrap for the awards and performances from this show.  I would give this show a 3 out of 5 stars.  Performance of the night from the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would either pick The Troublemakers or Dierks Bentley with Brothers Osborne.  Thanks for taking the time to read this review.  See ya all next time.

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I will be talking about the latest edition of the ACMs (Academy of Country Music) awards.  And that being the 53rd edition and it was hosted by Reba McEntire.  The show took place on CBS on Sunday April 15th, 2018 at 8pm EST (Eastern Standard Time).  Now the show did open up with a message from Jason Aldean talking about Las Vegas and what happened at the Route 91 country music festival on October 1st, 2017.  Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Maren Morris & Thomas Rhett joined him.  And the location for the show was live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

And this was the 15th time this show took place in Las Vegas.  And the 17th time it was hosted by Reba McEntire.  And her first time hosting the ACMs was in 1986.  And this year they honor songs from 1993.  Which was 25 years ago.  And Chris Stapleton wasn’t there cause his wife was going to have twins soon and actually did while the show was airing.

Darius Rucker – For the first time. Thomas Rhett – Marry me. Luke Bryan – Most people are good. Lauren Alaina – Doin’ fine. Reba McEntire & Kelly Clarkson – Does he love you? Chris Janson – Redneck life.

And now the Awards who and what for. Miranda Lambert – Song of the year – Tin man. Brett Young – New male vocalist of the year. Chris Stapleton – Album of the year – From a room: volume 1. Old Dominion – Vocal group of the year. Lauren Alaina – New female vocalist of the year. Midland – New vocal group or vocal duo of the year. Rhett Akins – Songwriter of the year. Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood – Vocal event of the year – The fighter. Miranda Lambert – Female vocalist of the year. Sam Hunt – Single record of the year – Body like a back road. Chris Stapleton – Male vocalist of the year. Jason Aldean – Entertainer of the year. Brothers Osborne – Music video of the year – It ain’t my fault. Brothers Osborne – Vocal duo of the year.

And that’s a wrap for the the award show.  So on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would give this show a 3 out of 5 stars.  There were some big surprises in my eyes but some things honestly didn’t change.  Thanks for taking the time to read this review.  See ya all next time.
